When Edurne was 7 years old, she participated in a musical group called Trastos, with whom she released 3 albums and performed on the TV program TVE Música sí and at Reyes Magos. Before her appearance on Operación Triunfo, she had minor roles in series such as Ana y los siete on TVE, Hospital Central, and Robles, investigador, and she did various TV commercials. In 2005, she competed in the fourth edition of Operación Triunfo. She was eliminated in the final stages of the program after being nominated only once, becoming the sixth finalist. She was born on January 9, 1993, in Riga. Savadogo’s mother is of Latvian and Russian descent, while her father is Burkinabé. However, she primarily identifies herself as Latvian. Her musical journey began at the age of 13 when she started singing and receiving private tutoring. She attended the Bolderāja Music and Art School in Riga, where she specialized in flute. At the age of 15, Savadogo participated in the Latvian television show Krodziņā pie Paula and later competed in Muzikālā banka at 17. She also joined the Golden Choir for Koru kari 3, the Latvian version of Clash of the Choirs. Her international breakthrough came in 2014 when she competed in Dziesma 2014, the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “I Can Breathe.” She qualified for the final and finished in fifth place. In 2015, Savadogo returned to the Latvian Eurovision national selection, Supernova 2015, and won with the song “Love Injected.” She went on to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. On 19 May 2015, Nissen released her follow-up single “Anyone Who Had a Heart”. The song achieved over 70,000 views on YouTube and was followed a third single “Triumph”. Anja was also featured on the 2014 “We Love Disney” album singing “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” from Cinderella. In 2016, Anja participated in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, Denmark’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Never Alone”.
