Festival da Canção 2024 – Semi final 2 results

In Portugal, 6 more finalists were chosen in the semi final 2. 10 Participants competed for a ticket for the big final. 50% televoting and 50% jury votes determined the top five acts of the night: Buba Espinho – “O Farol” Cristina Clara – “Primavera” Leo Middea – “Doce Mistério” No Maka feat. Tonight is the night when Iceland selects a song. Söngvakeppnin, their national final, will contain 5 songs. Out of these 5, jury and televoter will select two to head to a superfinal. In Portugal, 6 more finalists were chosen in the semi final 2. 10 Participants competed for a ticket for the big final. 50% televoting and 50% jury votes determined the top five acts of the night: Buba Espinho – “O Farol” Cristina Clara – “Primavera” Leo Middea – “Doce Mistério” No Maka feat. Ana Maria – “Aceitar” Silk Nobre – “Change” After that, the public voted for number 6:  Rita Onofre – “Criatura” The non qualifiers are: Filipa – “You Can’t Hide” João Couto – “Quarto para Um” Huca – “Pé de Choro” Maria João – “Dia”   The big final will take place next week saturday, March 9.

Tonight is the night for Serbia. Pesma za Evroviziju 24 comes to an end, which means we know the Serbian entry tonight. Out of 16 songs, the Serbians will select their song. Tonight is the night when Iceland selects a song. Söngvakeppnin, their national final, will contain 5 songs. Out of these 5, jury and televoter will select two to head to a superfinal. In that superfinal, televotes will be added to select the winner. The show starts at 20:45 CET and you can watch it here or here (with English comments). These are the contestants: nr. Title Artist(s)   1 Biómynd VÆB 2 Scared of heights Hera Björk 3 Downfall Anita 4 Wild west Bashar Murad 5 Into the athmosphere Sigga Ózk Sigga Ózk reached the final last year. Hera Björk represented Iceland in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Je ne sais quoi”. She took part in 2007 (semifinals), was the runner up in the 2009 Danish Melodi Grand Prix and 3rd in Söngvakeppnin 2019. The connection from Palestinian Bashar Murad with Iceland is the fact that, in 2019, he collaborated with Hatari in the song “Klefi/Samed”. This is, however, his first attempt in Eurovision. Bashar is the hot favourite to win tonight.

Melodifestivalen, the Swedish national selection, continues with a 5th and last heat. As Sweden is the host country, the winning song will go directly to the final. Two songs will go directly to the final, two other songs will go for ‘final qualification’, something that will be decided after the 5th heat. Where countries like Switzerland, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Cyprus published their entry with much publicity, it went completely different in Austria. The song was leaked, and this morning it was published on Spotify. Meanwhile, there is also an audio version published on Kaleen’s Youtube channel. The song “We will rave” is written and composed by Jimmy Thörnfeld, Anderz Wrethov, Julie Aagaard and Thomas Stengaard.
