Her fictional biography begins with the birth in the mountains of Colombia and leads through a childhood in Germany to the beginning of the career as a singer in Austria. Neuwirth explains this creation as a reaction and statement against discrimination that he experienced in his youth due to his homosexuality. His appearance as Conchita should also mean that “it is easier for young people – regardless of the reason why they are different from the others”.  Neuwirth was first known in the role of Conchita Wurst in 2011 as a participant in the ORF talent show Die große Chance, in which he finished sixth in the final round. As Conchita Wurst, he also took part in the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 (Austria rocks the Song Contest) and in the final with the song “That’s What I Am” came in second place. He did without wigs and appeared at events in a fetish outfit instead of clothes. The album T.O.M. – Truth Over Magnitude was published in autumn 2019. Rambo Amadeus

About Quick Facts NameAntonije Pušić Born14 June 1963 Nationality🇲🇪 Montenegrin National SelectionBeovizija 2018Internal Selection 2012 In Eurovision2012 Baku SongEuro Neuro (2012) Biography Rambo Amadeus is a stage name adopted by Antonije Pušić, a Montenegrin musician, singer, and songwriter known for his eclectic musical style and irreverent, satirical lyrics. Born on June 14, 1963, in Herceg Novi, a coastal town in Montenegro, Pušić grew up during the time when the country was part of the former Yugoslavia. The nickname “Rambo Amadeus” cleverly combines the machismo of a popular movie character with the elegance of a classical composer, reflecting his unique blend of humor and cultural critique. In his early life, Pušić exhibited a keen interest in various forms of art. He was known to be quite adept at painting and sports, alongside his musical pursuits. He attended a nautical school and later studied philosophy for a brief period at the University of Belgrade. However, he decided to abandon formal education to fully dedicate himself to his burgeoning musical career. Rambo Amadeus began his career in the mid-1980s, quickly establishing himself as a figure who defied conventional genre categorizations. His music is a fusion of various styles, including jazz, rock, hip-hop, and electronic music, interspersed with elements of Balkan folk. Such an eclectic style has led to the coining of terms like “Balkan funk” and “turbo folk” to describe his music. Lyrically, Rambo Amadeus is known for his incisive wit and ability to satirize contemporary society, politics, and popular culture. His songs often mock authoritarian regimes, nationalism, and commercialization in the music industry, using humor and wordplay to convey complex messages. Some of his popular albums include “O tugo jesenja” (1988), “Hoćemo gusle” (1994), and “Don’t Happy, Be Worry” (2001). Each of these albums showcases his versatile musical style and his ability to infuse his work with insightful social commentary. Over the years, Rambo Amadeus has garnered a cult following in the Balkans and beyond. In 2012, Rambo Amadeus represented Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Euro Neuro,” in which he humorously commented on the European financial crisis. While the song did not advance to the finals, it was praised for its originality and the satirical message behind it. In 2018, he did another attempt to go to the Eurovision Song Contest, but now in duet with Beti Đorđević. With the song “Nema Te” they participated in Beovizija, the Serbian national selection. Beyond music, Rambo Amadeus is also an advocate for environmental sustainability. He often speaks about the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable living, and responsible tourism, especially considering the pristine natural beauty of his home country, Montenegro. His stage performances are characterized by a chaotic and humorous style that is intentionally unpredictable and provocative. Rambo Amadeus’s approach to his live shows is emblematic of his overall artistic philosophy – a blend of mockery, commentary, and relentless creativity. Despite his seemingly unserious stage persona, Rambo Amadeus has earned respect as a thoughtful and innovative artist. He is considered a pioneer of the alternative music scene in the Balkans, and his influence can be seen in the work of many younger artists from the region. The song famously prevented The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” / “Strawberry Fields Forever” from claiming the top spot. As a result, Engelbert quickly gained international fame, following up with more hits like “There Goes My Everything,” “The Last Waltz,” and “Am I That Easy to Forget.” Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Engelbert expanded his career to include television and film. His TV show, “The Engelbert Humperdinck Show,” brought his music to a broader audience. He also appeared in a few films, including “The Love Machine” (1971) and “The Great American Traffic Jam” (1980). In 2012 Engelbert Humperdinck represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest. It was not a success, because he ended up in 25th position with only one point. Despite his professional success, Engelbert faced personal challenges. His marriage to Patricia Healey endured infidelity and the stress of fame, but they remained together until her death in 2021. Engelbert also struggled with financial setbacks, eventually declaring bankruptcy in 1985. However, he persevered, continuing to tour and release new music. With a career spanning over 50 years, Engelbert Humperdinck has left an indelible mark on the music industry. Though he never won a Grammy Award, his contributions to popular music have earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a place in the hearts of fans around the world.  Entries Love Will Set You Free Country🇬🇧 United Kingdom Year2012 LanguageEnglish LyricsMartin TerefeSacha Skarbek MusicMartin TerefeSacha Skarbek BackingsJames Bryan DancersBethany-Rose HarrisonShem Jacobs Results Semi Points: –Position: –Running order: – Results Finals Points: 12Position: 25Running order: 1 https://youtu.be/rXw4Q5jbNqQ?si=-S0QNUQ0teYAXuRj

Engelbert Humperdinck

About Quick Facts NameArnold George Dorsey Born02 May 1936 Nationality🇬🇧 British National SelectionInternal selection 2012 In Eurovision2012 Baku SongLove Will Set You Free (2012) Biography Engelbert is an English pop singer. Born in 1936, in Madras, British India (now Chennai, India), Arnold George Dorsey was one of ten children in a British Army family. The family relocated to Leicester, England, in 1946, where Arnold’s love for music began to blossom. Influenced by singers like Al Jolson and Frank Sinatra, Arnold started practicing the saxophone and playing in local clubs. In the early 1960s, Arnold teamed up with his roommate and fellow musician, Gordon Mills, who became his manager. Mills convinced Arnold to change his name to Engelbert Humperdinck, borrowing the name from the 19th-century German composer. The new moniker proved to be a stroke of genius, piquing public interest and setting the stage for a breakthrough. Engelbert’s career took off in 1967 with his hit single “Release Me,” which reached number one in the UK and number four in the US.
