He was born in Võru. He has sung in the Tallinn Boys ‘Choir and the Lydia Rahula School Boys’ Choir. When Uku joined the Tallinn Music School, he followed solfeggio lessons and piano. He graduated from the music school in 1997. He studied pop-jazz singing at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School in 2002. Uku participated in the Uno Naissoo Young Composers’ Contest more than once. In 2004, his song “Never Have To” was awarded the Uno Naissoo Special Prize. A year later, he took part in the same competition with the six-voice a cappella vocal ensemble Sõbrad, They became second. Also in 2005, Uku took part in the show Kaks takti ette, where he became 3rd. After this, he worked as a producer at the Elmar Liitmaa Rockhouse Music Studio. By the end of the year, his first single “It’s christmas time” was released.   In 2006, he has completed a year and a half in singing and music production at Berklee College of Music in the United States. Uku was the second vocal soloist and keyboard player in the band Lament, which deals with R&B and disco music of the 1980s. In 2008, he returned to the Naissoo Young Composers’ Contest and won it with the song “Refreshing”. In November 2008, the album “Beautiful Tim”e was released in collaboration with Birgit Õigemeel. Uku’s main activity was arranging songs, and the album featured several duets between Birgit and Uku.  In 2010, Uku Suviste participated in the international song contest “New Wave” in Jūrmala. Uku, who represented Estonia, reached the 3rd place. In 2011, he was supposed to participate in Eesti Laul, the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. However, he was disqualified because the song “Jagatud öö” was already used for other purposes in 2004. In 2012, he co-wrote the music video “Invincible” with Estonian Defense Forces and UNICEF for Estonian and foreign soldiers participating in missions and their families.  Uku has performed in musicals such as “Oliver Twist”, “Chicago” and  “West Side Story”. In 2017, he took part in Eesti Laul but did not reach the final. He had more luck in 2019 with the song “Pretty little liar”, which was the runner up. In 2020, he was chosen to represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “What love is”. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen due to the corona crisis. However, in 2021 he won Eesti Laul again, this time with the song “The lucky one”. They released an album and took part in DORA 2005, the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. He reached the top-10 many other times and won ZagrebFest in 2019. In the same year, he had two other #1 hits: “Vidi se izdaleka” and “Poljubi me sad”. In 2020 he was chosen to represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Divlji vjetre”. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, due to the cancellation of the contest. His first works were made in Stockholm, where he performed the song Libiri with the Swedish DJs Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. Back in Italy, he graduated from the Roma Tre University DAMS in Cinema, Television and New Media. In 2007 the singer published his first, self-produced EP. In 2010 he recorded the single “Ancora un brivido”. His first album, “E forse sono pazzo”, was released in April 2013. He performed in Taranto for the May 1st concert in support of environmental remediation and participated in the soundtrack of the film “Anni felici”. He was selected to participate in the Sanremo Festival 2014 in the “Nuove proposti” section with the song “Babylon”. He reached a second place. After the Festival, a re-release of “E forse sono pazzo” was published. In December 2013, he won the Deezer prize for best artist of the year. In June 2014 he won the MTV Italia Award in the “Best Newcomer” category. In the same year he won the De André prize for his version of “Amore che vieni, Amore che vai”. Diodato’s second album “A ritrovar bellezza” was released in 2014. It contained covers of songs from the 1960s. On 30 December 2016, the single “Mi si scioglie la boccia” was released, followed by the album “Cosa siamo diventati”.In 2018 he participated in the Festival of San Remo with the song “Ora”, played together with trumpeter Roy Paci, ranking in eighth place.  In 2019 Diodato made his debut as an actor in the film “Un’avventura”. In 2020 he took part in the festival of San Remo and won it with the song “Fai rumore”. As winner of the festival, Diodato was designated as Italy’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen due to the cancellation of the contest. During the first lockdown in Italy, “Fai rumore” became thé anthem, sung by people from their houses to make contact with other people. Diodato won the David di Donatello and the Silver Ribbon for the best original song with “Che vita meravigliosa”, used as the soundtrack of the film “La dea fortuna”. He also won the Soundtrack Stars Award at the Venice Film Festival for the same song.  On November 8, Diodato won the MTV Europe Music Awards in the category of best Italian artist and the day after “Fai rumore” was certified double platinum in Italy for more than 140,000 copies sold. Ben also  participated in a political project, which called for the 2013 elections and warned against the return of communists and inclinations to Russia. In the same year, he released his third album “Made In Czechoslovakia”.In 2015, Ben Cristovao performed in the sold-out Forum Karlín in Prague. In 2016, he was awarded the Czech Nightingale award in the category Most Streamed Czech Song. He did not receive the award personally and said that he did not want to be in the same room with the band Ortel, which is known for its xenophobic lyrics.  In 2017  Ben released the album “Poslední”. This album wasn’t released on a classic CD, but fans could download it via a QR code on a T-shirt with special graphics. In September 2017 Benny Cristo performed in Prague’s Yellow Spa for 4000 people. The recording of several songs from this concert was released in video form via VR glasses. In 2019 Ben gave his biggest concert so far at the O2 arena in Prague. In 2020 he was chosen to represent the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Kemama”. Unfortunately, due to the corona crisis, that didn’t happen. However, Czech Television chose Benny again to represent the Czech Republic in 2021 with the song “Omaga”.In addition to his musical career, Ben is an active athlete, has been a top-level Brazilian jiu-jitsu in recent years, and has toured around the world. Soon after this, he moved to Toronto where he was admitted to the Royal Conservatory with a full scholarship and remained there for 9 years.After his return in 2018, He released several singles like “Gerdan” and “Patuvam”. He was a backing vocal for Tamara Todevska in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. In 2020, he was chosen to represent North Macedonia in the contest himself. Unfortunately, due to the cancellation of the contest, it didn’t happen. However, North Macedonian television invited him again to do the job in 2021, with the song “Here I stand”. Not everything went smoothly; in the video of the song, the Bulgarian flag or something that looked like that, was visible. Vasil also has the Bulgarian nationality. A petition against Vasil as a representative of North Macedonia was, in the end, rejected. Shortly before the contest, Vasil came out as being gay, which made him the first openly gay North Macedonian participant.  In 2022, Vasil released an EP in English, “Porcelain soldier”, an EP he calls a journey of self discovery. In 2004, his song “Never Have To” was awarded the Uno Naissoo Special Prize. A year later, he took part in the same competition with the six-voice a cappella vocal ensemble Sõbrad, They became second. Also in 2005, Uku took part in the show Kaks takti ette, where he became 3rd. After this, he worked as a producer at the Elmar Liitmaa Rockhouse Music Studio. By the end of the year, his first single “It’s christmas time” was released.   In 2006, he has completed a year and a half in singing and music production at Berklee College of Music in the United States. Uku was the second vocal soloist and keyboard player in the band Lament, which deals with R&B and disco music of the 1980s. Not everything went smoothly; in the video of the song, the Bulgarian flag or something that looked like that, was visible. Vasil also has the Bulgarian nationality. A petition against Vasil as a representative of North Macedonia was, in the end, rejected. Shortly before the contest, Vasil came out as being gay, which made him the first openly gay North Macedonian participant.  In 2022, Vasil released an EP in English, “Porcelain soldier”, an EP he calls a journey of self discovery.
