Initially, Juhkental uploaded his first songs to MySpace under the name Malcolm Lincoln. He then invited Madis Kubu to join him for their first performance on October 31, 2009, in Tallinn. The Common Linnets

© Albin Olsson About Quick Facts MembersIlse DelangeWaylon Active2013-2017 Nationality Dutch National SelectionInternal selection 2014 In Eurovision2014 Copenhagen SongCalm After The Storm (2014) Biography The Common Linnets, a band hailing from the Netherlands, was established in 2013, initially featuring Ilse DeLange and Waylon. DeLange elucidated that the group was formed as a dynamic platform for Dutch musicians to experiment and create country, Americana, and bluegrass music. The band saw a change in lineup when Waylon departed in May 2014 and was replaced by American country artist Jake Etheridge. Their debut album, featuring the song “Calm After the Storm”, secured them a second-place finish in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 – the best performance by the Netherlands since their victory in 1975. The band’s name draws inspiration from the regional nickname ‘heikneuters,’ attributed to individuals from the eastern part of the Netherlands, DeLange and Waylon’s birthplace. This term refers to the songbird ‘kneu’ or common linnet. Credit for this innovative name goes to Dutch designer Rens Dekker, who also designed their album and single artworks. The initial band members were individual country artists, Ilse DeLange and Waylon, with DeLange acknowledged as the founder and leading member. DeLange envisaged the band as a project to facilitate Dutch artists in their musical explorations. Since 2014, the band has been composed of Ilse DeLange, JB Meijers, Jake Etheridge, and Matthew Crosby, who along with Rob Crosby, penned the hit “Calm After The Storm”. Born on May 13, 1977, in Almelo, Netherlands, Ilse DeLange’s musical journey started at the tender age of 8. Her talents were showcased in regional and national talent shows in Hilversum, followed by a musical partnership with guitarist Joop Liefland. Waylon, born on April 20, 1980, in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, adopted his stage name in honor of his idol, Waylon Jennings. After their Eurovision success, the band embarked on a promotional tour. The noticeable absence of Waylon sparked speculations of him leaving the band. On his official Facebook page, Waylon revealed that the unexpected success of the band led him to focus on his album releasing in September 2014. JB Meijers, born on June 10, 1972, in Delft, Netherlands, joined the band after his stint with Dutch indie bands Charmin’ Children, Shine, and Supersub. Besides playing with De Dijk, Eboman, and Acda & De Munnik, he also worked as a producer. Jake Etheridge, born on April 25, 1988, in Columbia, South Carolina, joined the band post-Waylon’s departure. Before joining, he had gained recognition for his online song uploads. Matthew Crosby, born on May 21, 1981, in Columbia, South Carolina, was an accomplished actor in New York City and had previously performed with the band “The Easy Tells”. The band represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, with the song “Calm After the Storm”. The Common Linnets won the 2014 Buma Cultuur Pop Award and the 2015 Echo Awards for Best International Newcomer Act. Their second studio album ‘II’ was released in 2015. The album became a Gold disc. In november 2015, the band toured throughout Germany and Austria. They received an award for best an award at Radio 538 for best live performance. In 2016 the band played at Eurosonic Noorderslag. They went to Sweden to perform in Douwe Bob‘s pub in Stockholm, during the Eurovision week. In June, they did a UK tour, in November they went back to Germany. Also in 2017, the band kept on performing. After that, Ilse Delange, JB Meijers and Matthew Crosby had solo projects.  In 2019, Ilse Delange was a coach at the Eurovision Song Contest for Duncan Laurence, who won the contest.

They originated from the Mühlviertel in Austria. In early 2010, Lukas Plöchl, also known as G-Neila, and Manuel Hoffelner (stage name Manix), a student from Leopoldschlag, formed the band. They quickly produced six tracks in just eight days, a requirement for contest participation. In 2010, Trackshittaz gained popularity through YouTube with their parody “Alloa bam Fraunz” of Stromae’s “Alors on danse”, garnering over 100,000 views quickly. Lukas Plöchl appeared on the ORF talent show Helden von morgen from October 2010 to January 2011. Following his initial performance, Sony Music signed them with their hit “Oida taunz!”, which topped the Austrian single charts. It was a milestone as the first Austrian download-only release to debut at number one. Their song “Guuugarutz”, released in January 2011, also reached the top spot. Their July 2011 album, “Prolettn feian längaah”, achieved number one status like their debut album and received a gold record. Their talent and dedication earned them multiple awards and nominations, including an MTV award as Best Swiss Act and a nomination as Best European Act. One of their most notable achievements was representing Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the song “Unbreakable.” Their musical journey saw them collaborating with artists like Californian singer/songwriter Mickey Shiloh on the ballad “You and I,” which went gold in Switzerland. Following this, after seeing Balceris perform on a youth broadcast, Ogļezņevs reached out with an invitation to meet and work together, leading to their first meeting where they wrote four demo versions of songs. The duo first gained exposure in June 2009 with the release of their single “Klimata kontrole”(“Climate control”). This was followed by their second single “Abrakadabra” on October 1, 2009, which became a radio hit in Latvia and won the “SEB Musical Bank 2009.” Their debut album “Šī ir tikai mūzika”(“This is just music”) was released in March 2010, featuring tracks such as “Abrakadabra”, “Dzimšanas diena” (“Birthday”), and “Klimata kontrole” (“Climate control”). The duo received significant recognition for their contributions to music and their city, being awarded the “Gada Liepājnieks” (“Liepajnieks of the Year”) in the music category and receiving three Copyright infinity prizes for their frequently played songs on radio, television, and concerts. In 2011, Musiqq represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf with the song “Angel in Disguise.” Following their participation in Eurovision, they continued their music career and in 2011 also formed a Latvian rap duo named “Bermudu Divstūris,” a play on the Bermuda Triangle, translating to “The Bermuda Digon.” As “Bermudu Divstūris,” they released three studio albums and won The Golden Microphone award in 2014 for “Best hip-hop or dance album.” Musiqq’s second album “Vēl viena mūzika”(“Another music”) was released in November 2014, marking the group’s fifth anniversary. This album featured several popular singles including “Sekundes”(“Seconds”) and “Cтрана без называния”(“Country without name”). Their largest live performance to date was their fifth birthday concert in Palladium in Riga on November 16, 2014, where they showcased this album. In 2015, Musiqq released their first acoustic album “Silta sirds”(“Warm heart”) in collaboration with various artists, marking a new phase in their musical journey. The album led to their first acoustic concert tour “Silta sirds,” visiting five cities in Latvia. Their album “10,” celebrating their 10th anniversary, was released in 2019. This album included 10 tracks and was commemorated with a grandiose concert in “Arena Riga” on April 27, 2019, showcasing the duo’s continued success and popularity over a decade. Hitsingles of this album were “Miljonārs” and “Bozies”. A new single, “Garīgais arī”, was released in August 2020 and “Mēs viena koka zari” in November of the same year. A year later, they came up with the song “Varu bez tevis”. After COVID19, they were able to perform on festivals again in the summer of 2022. In October of that year, Musiqq started a tour, “Bijis, ir un būs”, followed by a series of concerts with the same name. In December, they released a new single, “Ar tevi kopā”. The mini album, “Bijis, ir un būs”, was released on all streaming platforms only in January 2023. In January 2024, Musiqq released their new single “Mākslas darbs”.

They originated from the Mühlviertel in Austria. In early 2010, Lukas Plöchl, also known as G-Neila, and Manuel Hoffelner (stage name Manix), a student from Leopoldschlag, formed the band. The idea for the band’s name emerged as they decided to enter the UHS band contest in Freistadt, despite having no songs written together at that time. In 2010, the band was selected for the Austrian Eurovision Song Contest 2011 preliminaries and secured the second place with “Oida Taunz!”. Their July 2011 album, “Prolettn feian längaah”, achieved number one status like their debut album and received a gold record. The non-album track “Touchdown” was featured as the official song for the Football World Cup, and their song “Schnitzi” was included in the soundtrack of the film adaptation of Thomas Glavinic’s novel ‘Wie man leben soll’. Trackshittaz participated once more in Austria’s Eurovision Song Contest 2012 selection, Österreich rockt den Song Contest, and triumphed with “Woki mit deim Popo”, beating future ESC winner Conchita Wurst. However, they were eliminated in the Baku Eurovision semi-final, ranking last. Hoffelner sustained a knee injury during their performance. The band made a comeback in March 2014 with their fourth album “#TS4”, preceded by singles “Gmiatlich Dreschn” and “Schuachblattlaboogie”. On July 24, 2015, the duo announced the end of Trackshittaz, citing extensive physical and time commitments as the main reasons for the band’s dissolution, the EP “#TS15” being the last product of the duo. Furthermore, their soundtrack for the European Gymnastics Championship, “Tieniti Forte,” also struck gold, cementing their status in the music industry.  SinPlus embarked on tours across Europe, playing in diverse venues ranging from intimate bars to large arenas and prestigious festivals like Isle Of Wight and Moon & Stars. They shared stages with renowned international acts, including Roxette, showcasing their versatility and appeal. As their career progressed, they began incorporating more pop sounds and experimentation into their music. However, they remained true to the energy and attitude of rock and roll, evident in their album “This Is What We Are.” In 2019, the brothers embarked on a transformative journey, returning to California to soak in the West Coast rock vibe and then to Nashville. There, they worked with Grammy-nominated producer J.T. Daly, refining and experimenting with their sound. This period marked the birth of a new SinPlus sound, blending alternative rock with guitar-hooks and break-beats. They released the EP ‘It’s Not About Being Good’ in 2020, heralding the start of a new era for the band. This was followed by their album ‘Break The Rules,’ which they described as the first album to truly capture their vision from the outset: pure Rock and Roll. Following the success of ‘Break The Rules,’ in 2021, including significant recognition on major rock radio playlists and Spotify’s editorial “All New Rock,” SinPlus released the single “Wildflower” in March 2022. This track not only confirmed their distinctive sound but also marked the beginning of a new creative phase. In October 2022 the song “Dark Horse Running” came out.  In December it was an EP the brothers released: “Waiting For The Dawn”. In October 2023 they opened for The Darkness in their show.
