Sweden: Melodifestivalen starts

The very popular Swedish national selection Melodifestivalen will start tonight. Seven songs will compete, two will head directly to the final while two other songs will go to the semifinal. The show starts at 20:00 and you can watch it here. The competing songs are: Tone Sekelius sings “Rythm of my show” Loulou Lamotte sings “Inga Sorger” Rejhan sings “Haunted” Elov & Beny sing “Raggen går” Victor Crone sings “Diamonds” Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos sing “Länge leve livet” Jon Henrik Fjällgren, Arc North feat. Adam Woods sing “Where you are (Sávežan)”   Tone Sekelius became 5th last year.Loulou Lamotte is a member of The Mamas; she won Melodifestivalen 2020 with “Move”; due to the pandemic, The Mamas did not go to Eurovision. In 2021 the group became 3rd.Victor Crone took part in 2015 and reached the 2nd chance round, together with Behrang Miri. In 2020 he became 9th. In 2019 he represented Estonia with the song “Storm”.Eva Rydberg took part in 1977 and became 7th. As a duo, Eva Rydberg and Ewa Roos reached the 2021 2nd chance round.Jon Henrik Fjällgren became 2nd in 2015, 3rd in 2017 and 4th in 2019.

Ireland: Eurosong 2023

Tonight is the night that Ireland will have a national selection. The show starts at 22:35 CET and you can watch it here. The songs are: Leila Jane sings “Wild” Adgy sings “Too good for love” Public Images Limited sing “Hawaii” Connolly sings “Midnight summer night” Wild Youth sings “We are one” K Muni & ND sing “Down in the rain”   None of the artists took part in the national selection before. However, Public Images Limited are not completely unkown. The band, under the lead of John Lydon a.k.a. Johnny Rotten, had a huge international hit in 1983 with “This is not a love song”. Lydon was also the singer of the Sex Pistols.

Benidorm Fest Semi Final 2 results

After another long night in Benidorm the results are in. Blanca Paloma won the semifinal. Last year, Blanca took part as well, but she didn’t manage to reach the final back then.  The other finalists from tonight will be Vicco, Karmento and José Ottero. Iru Kechanovi wins The Voice Georgia

Iru Kechanovi has won The Voice Georgia and thus will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song, with which she will represent the country, will be presented later. Iru was coached by Dato Porchkhidze. She sang the Eurovision song “Euphoria” in the final. Iru gained 21,88% of the votes. It’s Brunette for Armenia

Brunette Rumour already had it, but now AMPTV (Armenian public broadcaster) has confirmed: Brunette will represent Armenia in Liverpool. Armenian television selected the singer internally. Brunette is one of the most famous singers in Armenia. Already when she was 15, she sang titles like “Night”, “Smoke Break” and “Light Blue Eyes”. On YouTube, she gained millions of views for these songs. Sending a young artist AMPTVs Executive Director Hovhannes Movsisyan commented on the selection of Brunette: “Last year, sending a young artist to Eurovision was justified. The song is still successful and captivates millions of fans. I hope this year we will surprise the European audience with a unique Armenian artist.” Selection process Davit Tserunyan, the Head of the Armenian delegation, added: “A few weeks after organising the Junior Eurovision in Yerevan, we started the process of selecting our representative for the contest. At this stage, we are working on the song and the video, which I am sure will be impressive!” Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest Armenia is present in the contest since 2006. Two times (in 2008 with Sirusho and in 2014 with Aram mp3) the country reached a 4th place. Austria: Teya & Salena will sing in Liverpool

photo: ORF   A lot of Eurovision news comes in these days. This morning, radiostation Ö3 announced that Teya and Salena will represent Austria. The song, of which we don’t know the title yet, will be presented the 8th of March, International Women’s Day. Both Teya and Salena have some Eurovision experience. Salena did an attempt in the internal selection in 2019 and Teya in 2020. Under the name of Thea Devy, Teya took part in the 2020 Serbian national selection with the song “Sudnji dan”. Teya in the Serbian final in 2020. Salena in The Voice Germany in 2017. The announcement for the Eurovision Song Contest (in German).

After another long night in Benidorm the results are in. Blanca Paloma won the semifinal. Last year, Blanca took part as well, but she didn’t manage to reach the final back then.  The other finalists from tonight will be Vicco, Karmento and José Ottero. Iru Kechanovi wins The Voice Georgia

Iru Kechanovi has won The Voice Georgia and thus will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song, with which she will represent the country, will be presented later. Iru was coached by Dato Porchkhidze. She sang the Eurovision song “Euphoria” in the final. Iru gained 21,88% of the votes. Brunette Rumour already had it, but now AMPTV (Armenian public broadcaster) has confirmed: Brunette will represent Armenia in Liverpool. Armenian television selected the singer internally. Brunette is one of the most famous singers in Armenia. Already when she was 15, she sang titles like “Night”, “Smoke Break” and “Light Blue Eyes”. Austria: Teya & Salena will sing in Liverpool

The song, of which we don’t know the title yet, will be presented the 8th of March, International Women’s Day. Both Teya and Salena have some Eurovision experience.
