Her early years were marked by a passion for music; she started piano lessons at the age of six and completed both elementary and secondary music school. Despite her musical talent, Nina chose to pursue a career in pharmacy, enrolling at the University of Belgrade. Her artistic side flourished as she performed in various clubs with her band “Legal Sex Department,” where she drew inspiration from artists like Duffy, Muse, and others from pop and alternative genres. Nina’s breakthrough in the music industry came in 2011 when she was selected by Kristina Kovač, a member of the renowned Kovač family, to perform a song titled “Čaroban” in the Eurovision Song Contest. Discovered through YouTube, Nina represented Serbia in the contest held in Düsseldorf, Germany. She garnered significant public support, securing her place with over 15,000 SMS votes. Nina’s journey in Eurovision was notable. She recorded an English version of her song, now named “Magical,” and performed at the Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam. In the contest, she performed sixth in the semi-final and eventually placed 14th in the final, after delivering her performance 24th in the lineup. Post-Eurovision, Nina announced plans to release a debut studio album with PGP RTS, but later, in an interview with OGAE Serbia, she revealed a shift in her focus. Nina had moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2014 to pursue her PhD in immunopharmacology, and the album plans were cancelled. Nina’s main job is currently in pharmacy but she tries to combine it with music. Every now and then, she releases a song and video. “Colors Of My Love” was released in 2016. After years of singing mainly covers, in 2020 she released a new single with official video: “Nemocna”, “Neispricane prične” in 2021. A renowned producer, Vignir has created hits for many Icelandic artists, including Sjonni Brink. He’s also served as the musical director for shows like Icelandic Idol and X-factor, and played in musicals like Hair, Grease, and Footloose. Vignir has represented Iceland three times in the ESC, in various roles from guitarist to composer. He wrote the 2005 entry “If I had your love” for Selma. Pálmi Sigurhjartarson, celebrated for his piano skills, began his music career at eighteen in Reykjavik piano bars. His versatile career spans working with solo artists, big orchestras, and classical singers, and directing music for over 150 TV and radio shows. He’s also known for writing hit pop songs. Pálmi collaborated closely with Sjonni in theatre shows and bands like Rokk and the Flavors, and performed as a duo on various occasions.  Pálmi was the musical director for the acclaimed Icelandic Theatre Group Vesturport, recognized with the European Theatre Prize. Their productions have toured globally, including a 2008 project at London’s Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, where Pálmi was both performer and musical director. Matthías Matthíasson, from Dalvík, Iceland, gained acclaim at 18 in “Hair” and was nominated as “best newcomer” for “Jesus Christ Superstar” (1995). Known for his powerful, high-ranged rock voice, he’s one of Iceland’s most technical singers, able to hit high notes effortlessly. Benedikt Brynleifsson, a prominent Icelandic drummer, has been playing professionally for 11 years with top artists and bands. Initially, they performed concerts across various cities in Romania and Germany, debuting a promotional CD in the spring of 2006. David Bryan, a founding member and the lead vocalist, hails from Newton Aycliffe in North East England. Before moving to Romania, he worked as a binman in his native town. The inception of Hotel FM dates back to 2005, sparked by Romanian composer Gabriel Băruţa. He gathered several musicians from Oradea, his hometown, to forge a new musical direction, focusing on a modern pop-rock genre that emphasized melody and innovation, hallmarks of Băruţa’s compositions. Over time, the band’s lineup featured Nicolae Vedinaş (vocals, flute), Berek Szilard (vocals), Marius Pop (guitar), Vlady Săteanu (bass), Gabi Drăgan (drums), and Sanyi Zakar (guitar). They continued to perform in Romania and Germany, celebrating the release of their promotional CD in 2006. In the realm of Eurovision, Hotel FM made a significant impact. They achieved 4th place in the Eurovision 2010 national selection final with the song “Come As One”. The lineup for this event included David Bryan (vocals), Gabriel Băruţa (guitar and backing vocals), Vicky Sava (backing vocals), Darius Neagu (drums, backing vocals), and dancers Mihuţ “Levi” Lennon and Diana Mărmăreanu. Their Eurovision journey continued in 2011 with the track “Change” (composed by Gabriel Băruţa, with lyrics by Alexandra Ivan and Băruţa). Winning the national final with 22 points, they earned the privilege to represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. They progressed from the second semifinal on May 12th and participated in the final on May 14th, securing the 17th position. Around the Eurovision participation, Hotel FM released several songs, like “The gathering”, “Living it up tonight” and “The letter”, but after that, it remained silent around the band. Gabriel Băruţa wrote and produced several songs for Romanian national selections: “Feel the same” for his band Mosquito in 2013 and “Hearts collide” for Anca Florescu. Băruţa is active as a producer at Mosquito Productions and plays in a band called Mustang. The band was founded in 1994 by a group of friends from the city of Straseni, Moldova. When the band was formed in 1994, they still performed in various formations. Their initial sound was more like hardcore punk, the lyrics of their songs were mostly in Russian. The group made their debut at an event called “10 Years After Chernobyl” in Chisinau. In November 1994 they recorded their first demo tape and played at a festival in Moscow, where they performed for the first time under the name “Zdob și Zdub”. In July 1996 they opened for Rage Against the Machine at the same festival with songs in Russian and Romanian. The song “Hardcore Moldovenesc” became a hit. In the same year Zdob și Zdub signed a contract with the Russian record company FeeLee and released their debut album “Hardcore Moldovenesc”. Around 1998 their sound began to change, the songs were provided with elements of local folklore, the lyrics were mainly in Romanian. In May 1999 their second album was released with the title “Tabăra Noastră” In august of the same year, Zdob și Zdub played at the Russian MTV party held on Red Square in Moscow, along with Russian bands such as Gorky Park and I.F.K and the American Red Hot Chili Peppers. In October 2000, the group recorded a cover version of the song “Videli still” by the Russian band Kino. With this song they took part in the tribute album “Kinoproby” for the late poet, actor and frontman of the band Kino, Viktor Tsoi. The cover became a hit across the Commonwealth of Independent States and topped the charts in many CIS countries throughout the year. About half a million of the tribute albums have been sold. The band was awarded the best live band of the year 2000 in Russia by the St. Petersburg music magazine Fuzz. The band has toured extensively and continues to do so, mainly in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, but also in Germany (1998), the Netherlands (2000) and more recently Serbia, Hungary and Italy. In 2001, the album “Agroromantica”, which roughly means “country romance”, was presented.  The following year, the group won the equivalent MTV Romania Video Music Award. In 2003, her song “Everybody in the Casa Mare” was played in the opening and closing credits of the short film Călătorie la oraș (A Trip to the City). In November of the same year, a new album  was released. The album reached number 12 in the World Music Charts Europe. In October 2004, the group was working on a new album in their studio, which would be dedicated to the band’s 10th anniversary. The album included the 10 best songs of the last 10 years, according to Zdob și Zdub, and 5 new tracks. In 2005, Zdob și Zdub was chosen to be the very first representatives of Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest. The band reached a 7th place. In 2007, the band appeared in the BBC travel documentary series Michael Palin’s New Europe. Also in 2007, a mashup music video called “Black Eyed Peace ft Zdob şi Zdub – Don’t Mess with Inima Mea” surfaced on the internet, featuring a mix of the Black Eyed Peas’ song “Don’t Phunk with My Heart”.  In 2009, the group released the song “Na rechke, na rechke”, for the project “Solj” on Russian Radio. In December 2009, Zdob și Zdub recorded the track “Telega” for the tribute album “Maschinopisj”, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Russian band Maschina Vremeni. In February 2011, the band was again chosen to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest, this time  with the song “So Lucky”. They reached a 10th place. In 2012 the album Basta Mafia!, partly produced in Germany, was released, followed by a tour. For the 20th anniversary in 2015 an album with songs accompanied by an orchestra was released. In 2018 they released the single “Balkana Mama” together with singer Loredana Groza and in 2019 the new album Bestiarium. In 2022 the band again represented Moldova in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, this time with the duo Frații Advahov and the song “Trenulețul”. Her artistic side flourished as she performed in various clubs with her band “Legal Sex Department,” where she drew inspiration from artists like Duffy, Muse, and others from pop and alternative genres. Nina’s breakthrough in the music industry came in 2011 when she was selected by Kristina Kovač, a member of the renowned Kovač family, to perform a song titled “Čaroban” in the Eurovision Song Contest. Discovered through YouTube, Nina represented Serbia in the contest held in Düsseldorf, Germany. She garnered significant public support, securing her place with over 15,000 SMS votes. He started playing guitar at nine and can play almost any instrument, with a particular passion for collecting guitars. A renowned producer, Vignir has created hits for many Icelandic artists, including Sjonni Brink. He’s also served as the musical director for shows like Icelandic Idol and X-factor, and played in musicals like Hair, Grease, and Footloose. Vignir has represented Iceland three times in the ESC, in various roles from guitarist to composer. He wrote the 2005 entry “If I had your love” for Selma. Pálmi Sigurhjartarson, celebrated for his piano skills, began his music career at eighteen in Reykjavik piano bars. His versatile career spans working with solo artists, big orchestras, and classical singers, and directing music for over 150 TV and radio shows. He’s also known for writing hit pop songs. Pálmi collaborated closely with Sjonni in theatre shows and bands like Rokk and the Flavors, and performed as a duo on various occasions.  Pálmi was the musical director for the acclaimed Icelandic Theatre Group Vesturport, recognized with the European Theatre Prize. He continues a successful career in Iceland as a singer-songwriter, deeply impacting Icelandic music. Benedikt Brynleifsson, a prominent Icelandic drummer, has been playing professionally for 11 years with top artists and bands. Recently, he performed with Paul Oscar and the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, with concerts at Reykjavík’s Harpa. He’s a member of the band Rokk, founded by Sigurjón Brink. This marks Benedikt’s second Eurovision appearance, previously performing in 2007. His diverse career includes TV performances, modeling, and appearances in commercials, notably playing in house bands for Icelandic Pop Idol and X-Factor. Benedikt has contributed to over 20 albums and numerous singles and is a sought-after session drummer. His rock band, 200.000 Naglbítar, is currently recording an album. The band was founded in 1994 by a group of friends from the city of Straseni, Moldova. When the band was formed in 1994, they still performed in various formations. Their initial sound was more like hardcore punk, the lyrics of their songs were mostly in Russian. The group made their debut at an event called “10 Years After Chernobyl” in Chisinau. In November 1994 they recorded their first demo tape and played at a festival in Moscow, where they performed for the first time under the name “Zdob și Zdub”. In July 1996 they opened for Rage Against the Machine at the same festival with songs in Russian and Romanian. The song “Hardcore Moldovenesc” became a hit. In the same year Zdob și Zdub signed a contract with the Russian record company FeeLee and released their debut album “Hardcore Moldovenesc”. Around 1998 their sound began to change, the songs were provided with elements of local folklore, the lyrics were mainly in Romanian. In May 1999 their second album was released with the title “Tabăra Noastră” In august of the same year, Zdob și Zdub played at the Russian MTV party held on Red Square in Moscow, along with Russian bands such as Gorky Park and I.F.K and the American Red Hot Chili Peppers. In October 2000, the group recorded a cover version of the song “Videli still” by the Russian band Kino. With this song they took part in the tribute album “Kinoproby” for the late poet, actor and frontman of the band Kino, Viktor Tsoi. The cover became a hit across the Commonwealth of Independent States and topped the charts in many CIS countries throughout the year. About half a million of the tribute albums have been sold. The band was awarded the best live band of the year 2000 in Russia by the St. Petersburg music magazine Fuzz. The band has toured extensively and continues to do so, mainly in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, but also in Germany (1998), the Netherlands (2000) and more recently Serbia, Hungary and Italy. In 2001, the album “Agroromantica”, which roughly means “country romance”, was presented.  The following year, the group won the equivalent MTV Romania Video Music Award. In 2003, her song “Everybody in the Casa Mare” was played in the opening and closing credits of the short film Călătorie la oraș (A Trip to the City). In November of the same year, a new album  was released. The album reached number 12 in the World Music Charts Europe. In October 2004, the group was working on a new album in their studio, which would be dedicated to the band’s 10th anniversary. The album included the 10 best songs of the last 10 years, according to Zdob și Zdub, and 5 new tracks. In 2005, Zdob și Zdub was chosen to be the very first representatives of Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest. The band reached a 7th place. In 2007, the band appeared in the BBC travel documentary series Michael Palin’s New Europe. Also in 2007, a mashup music video called “Black Eyed Peace ft Zdob şi Zdub – Don’t Mess with Inima Mea” surfaced on the internet, featuring a mix of the Black Eyed Peas’ song “Don’t Phunk with My Heart”.  In 2009, the group released the song “Na rechke, na rechke”, for the project “Solj” on Russian Radio. In December 2009, Zdob și Zdub recorded the track “Telega” for the tribute album “Maschinopisj”, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Russian band Maschina Vremeni. In February 2011, the band was again chosen to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest, this time  with the song “So Lucky”. They reached a 10th place. In 2012 the album Basta Mafia!, partly produced in Germany, was released, followed by a tour. For the 20th anniversary in 2015 an album with songs accompanied by an orchestra was released. In 2018 they released the single “Balkana Mama” together with singer Loredana Groza and in 2019 the new album Bestiarium. Her artistic side flourished as she performed in various clubs with her band “Legal Sex Department,” where she drew inspiration from artists like Duffy, Muse, and others from pop and alternative genres. Nina’s breakthrough in the music industry came in 2011 when she was selected by Kristina Kovač, a member of the renowned Kovač family, to perform a song titled “Čaroban” in the Eurovision Song Contest. At 16, she moved to Kyiv to study at the College of Circus and Variety Arts, focusing on voice, piano, acting, dance, and pantomime. Her talent caught the attention of music professionals, and she soon signed with the Kyiv-based Falyosa Family Factory. Newton represented Ukraine in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, Germany, with the song “Angel,” finishing fourth. Her performance was notably accompanied by sand artist Kseniya Simonova. Before Eurovision, Newton had released two albums and provided theme songs for various Ukrainian and Russian films and TV shows. The band was founded in 1994 by a group of friends from the city of Straseni, Moldova. When the band was formed in 1994, they still performed in various formations. Their initial sound was more like hardcore punk, the lyrics of their songs were mostly in Russian. The group made their debut at an event called “10 Years After Chernobyl” in Chisinau. In November 1994 they recorded their first demo tape and played at a festival in Moscow, where they performed for the first time under the name “Zdob și Zdub”. In July 1996 they opened for Rage Against the Machine at the same festival with songs in Russian and Romanian. The song “Hardcore Moldovenesc” became a hit. In the same year Zdob și Zdub signed a contract with the Russian record company FeeLee and released their debut album “Hardcore Moldovenesc”. Around 1998 their sound began to change, the songs were provided with elements of local folklore, the lyrics were mainly in Romanian. In May 1999 their second album was released with the title “Tabăra Noastră” In august of the same year, Zdob și Zdub played at the Russian MTV party held on Red Square in Moscow, along with Russian bands such as Gorky Park and I.F.K and the American Red Hot Chili Peppers. In October 2000, the group recorded a cover version of the song “Videli still” by the Russian band Kino. With this song they took part in the tribute album “Kinoproby” for the late poet, actor and frontman of the band Kino, Viktor Tsoi. The cover became a hit across the Commonwealth of Independent States and topped the charts in many CIS countries throughout the year. About half a million of the tribute albums have been sold. The band was awarded the best live band of the year 2000 in Russia by the St. Petersburg music magazine Fuzz. The band has toured extensively and continues to do so, mainly in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, but also in Germany (1998), the Netherlands (2000) and more recently Serbia, Hungary and Italy. In 2001, the album “Agroromantica”, which roughly means “country romance”, was presented.  The following year, the group won the equivalent MTV Romania Video Music Award. In 2003, her song “Everybody in the Casa Mare” was played in the opening and closing credits of the short film Călătorie la oraș (A Trip to the City). In November of the same year, a new album  was released. The album reached number 12 in the World Music Charts Europe. In October 2004, the group was working on a new album in their studio, which would be dedicated to the band’s 10th anniversary. The album included the 10 best songs of the last 10 years, according to Zdob și Zdub, and 5 new tracks. In 2005, Zdob și Zdub was chosen to be the very first representatives of Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest. The band reached a 7th place. In 2007, the band appeared in the BBC travel documentary series Michael Palin’s New Europe. Also in 2007, a mashup music video called “Black Eyed Peace ft Zdob şi Zdub – Don’t Mess with Inima Mea” surfaced on the internet, featuring a mix of the Black Eyed Peas’ song “Don’t Phunk with My Heart”.  In 2009, the group released the song “Na rechke, na rechke”, for the project “Solj” on Russian Radio. In December 2009, Zdob și Zdub recorded the track “Telega” for the tribute album “Maschinopisj”, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Russian band Maschina Vremeni. In February 2011, the band was again chosen to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest, this time  with the song “So Lucky”. They reached a 10th place. In 2012 the album Basta Mafia!, partly produced in Germany, was released, followed by a tour. For the 20th anniversary in 2015 an album with songs accompanied by an orchestra was released. In 2018 they released the single “Balkana Mama” together with singer Loredana Groza and in 2019 the new album Bestiarium. In 2022 the band again represented Moldova in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, this time with the duo Frații Advahov and the song “Trenulețul”. For their participation they received a special reward from the Moldovan president. In March 2023 the band performed in Brussels and London. Zdob și Zdub was awarded the Gavriil Muzicescu Culture Award. In July they performed in Barcelona. In November they teamed up with the Romanian band Voltaj to record the song “Fraz”.
