Iceland: Söngvakeppnin continues

Tonight the Icelandic national final Söngvakeppnin will continue. You are able to watch the second of two semifinals. Two more songs will be selected. In the end, probably later this week, a wildcard will be given to a 5th song.

The show will start at 20:45 CET and you can watch it here. The songs in tonight show will all be sung in Icelandic. For the final, however, artists have the right to sing their song in English. These are tonights titles:

  1. Kristin Sesselja sings “Óbyggðir”
  2. Langi Seli & Skuggarnir sing “OK”
  3. Silja Rós & Kjalar sing “Ég styð þína braut”
  4. Úlfar sings “Betri maður”
  5. Sigga Ozk sings “Gleyma þér og dansa”

 

None of the participating artists took part in Söngvakeppnin in the past.

Four contestants will go into the arena. Three of them will be selected by televoters to head to a superfinal. Televoters and jury then will select the singer going to Basel. One of the jury members is former Eurovision participant Shiri Maimon. Tonight Israel will select an artist. As in many other years, HaKokhav HaBa will be the national final. After 15 shows, a quarter final and two semifinals, the moment is there. Four contestants will go into the arena. Three of them will be selected by televoters to head to a superfinal. Televoters and jury then will select the singer going to Basel.
