Biography
Ziferblat is a Ukrainian band formed in 2015, comprising vocalist Daniil Leshchynskyi, guitarist Valentyn Leshchynskyi, and drummer Fedir Hodakov. The band released their debut EP, “Kinoseans,” in December 2017. In 2019, they gained attention with the single “Vnochi” and showcased their talent on the TV show “X-Factor,” performing this track.
In 2022, Ziferblat released a music video for the song “Zemlya,” inspired by Ukrainian author Olha Kobylianska’s 1902 book of the same name. The video features a Ukrainian folk choir and includes English subtitles to reach a broader audience.
The band continued to evolve their sound and was on the longlist for “Vidbir” 2023. In April 2023, released their first full-length album, “Peretvorennya” (Transformation), which consists of 13 songs primarily written between 2019 and 2020. The album was presented at a solo concert on April 22, 2023. Later that year, Ziferblat was honored with the “Muzvar Awards” in the category of “Best New Names in Alternative Music.”
In 2024, Ziferblat participated in “Vidbir,” Ukraine’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Place I Call Home.” They achieved second place in the overall ranking, receiving 11 points from the jury and 8 points from the audience.
Undeterred, the band returned to “Vidbir” in 2025 with the song “Bird of Pray.” On February 8, 2025, they won the national selection, securing the opportunity to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The song “Bird of Pray” addresses themes of hope and freedom, using the imagery of a bird as a symbol of liberation and renewal.
Throughout their career, Ziferblat has released several singles, including “Vnochi” (2019), “Zemlya” (2022), “Dlya choho ty pryyshla” (2022), “Dysko-Fanko Terapiya” (2023), “Place I Call Home” (2023), “Litaky” (2024), “Druh” (2024), “Doteper i nazavzhdy” featuring Tember Blanche (2024), and of course “Bird of Pray” (2025).
