Biography
VÆB is an Icelandic electronic dance music duo composed of brothers Matthías Davíð and Hálfdán Helgi, also known as Matti and Bubbi. They first gained national attention in 2024 by participating in Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin, the country’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with their song “Bíómynd,” which advanced to the final round.
to Söngvakeppnin with the song “RÓA.” Their performance earned them a unanimous victory, topping both the international jury and public votes, and securing their position as Iceland’s representatives for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland.
The duo’s music is characterized by a fusion of dance and electronic genres, creating energetic compositions designed for the dance floor. Their distinctive sound combines complex rhythms, catchy melodies, and pulsating basslines.
Beyond their participation in national selections, VÆB has engaged with Eurovision culture by covering Iceland’s 2006 entry “Congratulations” by Silvia Night in Icelandic. They maintain an active presence on social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, where they share updates and interact with fans.
As of February 2025, VÆB is preparing to perform “RÓA” in the first half of the first semi-final on May 13, 2025, at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.
