Biography
The daughter of the Austrian artist Arik Brauer studied piano and singing at the Conservatory in Vienna. She earned her doctorate on “The Voice in Jazz” and attended master classes in opera, in Indian singing and jazz singing . Since 1985, she has performed with her longtime musical partner, the pianist Elias Meiri, with the “Timna Brauer & Elias Meiri Ensemble”. In 1986, she represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Bergen. In 1998 Timna Brauer played ‘Jenny’ in the Dreigroschenoper with the “Ensemble Modern Frankfurt”, with which she performed at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. In 2001 she played Andrew Lloyd Webbers Evita. From 2002 to 2004 she toured with the Palestinian-Israeli choir “Voices for Peace” in Europe, for which Meiri and Brauer also arranged songs. Brauer also writes children’s songs. Since 1995 she teaches jazz singing at the University of Vienna.
In 2004, Timna Brauer created the musical fairy tale “Die begeisterten Trommeln” for the Telekom Austria children’s sound cloud in Linz.
In 2007, Timna took part in “Dancing with the stars”.
