Biography
Bendik Singerswas a Norwegian vocal quartet composed by Arne Bendiksen to participate in the Melodi Grand Prix 1973 with his composition “Å, for et spill”. The song came in seventh place in the Eurovision Song Contest 1973. The quartet consisted of Anne-Karine Strøm, Ellen Nikolaysen and brothers Bjørn Kruse and Philip Kruse. In the international final of the Eurovision Song Contest, the song had been translated into English entitled “It’s Just a Game”.
Bendik Singers also had a hit with “Om hele verden sang i kor”. In the late summer of 1973 Anne Lise Gjøstøl took over for Nikolaisen, but only on loans from EMI. Nikolaisen was denied further participation by her record company Phonogram. The group also won the Melodi Grand Prix 1974 as backings for Anne-Karine Strøm and thus also participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 in Brighton.
The group was dissolved in 1975.
