Biography
Teddy Scholten was a Dutch singer. Her career began when she played a small role in the show of Toon Hermans. In 1944, she met singer Henk Scholten, whom she married in 1945. Henk Scholten wrote songs for her. She presented them in several shows on Dutch national radio. From 1955 until 1960 she performed in the “Snip en Snap revue”. In 1959, she was chosen to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Een beetje”. She won the contest and released the song in French, German, Italian and Swedish. In 1960, she took part in the Knokke Cup in Belgium. She had a hit together with Henk Scholten and hosted several shows on Dutch television. In 1965 and 1966 she presented the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. In both years, she was also the Dutch commentator.
In the mid 1970s Teddy Scholten decided to stop singing. From 1974 to 1986 she did the public relations for the Dutch Red Cross.
Teddy Scholten passed away on 8 march 2010.
