Tania Tsanaklidou

Biography

Tania Tsanaclidou is a Greek performer, born in Drama. At the age of 21 she went down to Athens, where she played at Mormolis, while at night he sang in the “Lídra” with Yiannis Markopoulos, and also participated in his album “Thiteía”. In 1974 she starred in the television series “Anísycha niáta”, and in 1975 she worked at Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” at the Art Theater with Károlo Koun. In 1978 she participated in another tv-series and the same year she represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Paris. She received a performance award at the French “Rose d’or” in 1980.  In 1981, she played the role of Edith Piaf in the Athinaïkó Kipothéatro.  In the mid-decade she started to work with Giannis Spanos with the albums “File” (1982) and “Tis vrochís kai tis nýchtas” (1984). In 1988 she met and collaborated with Stamatis Kraounakis and Lina Nikolakopoulou where they co-created the album “Mamá gernáo”,. Throughout the ’80s, she performed extensively outside Greece. In 1990 she released a new album. Various problems with her record company and personal problems kept her away from recording, but not from singing. She made a comeback album in 1995 in collaboration with composer George Andreou.

In 1996 she created “To magikó koutí” with pianist Takis Farazi, a musical theater performance. She also participated in a musical by the Municipal Theater of Patras on the life of Mikis Theodorakis. In 2001 she collaborated with Michael Delta on the album “To chróma tis méras” where she presents another way performing her own songs with electronic music. In March 2008 she decides to return to the theater.
In the summer of 2011 she decides to retire. In October 2013, she appears in Cabaret in the role of Fraulein Schneider.
