Biography

Born on August 27, 1990, in Guatemala, Soluna Samay Kettel-Ziegler, better known by her stage name, Soluna Samay, is a musical talent who beautifully blends her multicultural heritage into her artistry. The daughter of a German father, Gerd George Kettel, and a Swiss mother, Annelis, Soluna’s music is as diverse and intricate as her background. A polyglot, she speaks Danish, English, Spanish, and German fluently.

The year 2000 marked a pivotal transition when her family moved to Bornholm, Denmark. Though based in Denmark, she holds Swiss citizenship, reflecting her intricate blend of cultures. From the age of two, she was a traveler, journeying with her parents across Europe, soaking in its varied cultures and sounds.

By five, Soluna was making music, often in collaboration with her father, known in the musical world as Gee Gee Kettel. Their duo, ‘Gee Gee & Soluna’, was an initial showcase of her musical promise. She found her rhythm with the drums and often performed classics like “Jambalaya” by Hank Williams.

Parallel to her blossoming music career, Soluna pursued academic excellence in the field of music, studying musicology at the University of Copenhagen.

“I Wish I Was a Seagull” in 2003 marked her entry into the music industry as a solo singer. 2011 was an essential year with the release of her album “Sing Out Loud” under Baltic Records.
