Biography
Sissal Jóhanna Norðberg Niclasen, known professionally as Sissal, is a Faroese singer-songwriter.
Sissal was born in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. She had her first public performance at the age of ten in a local music competition similar to the Melodi Grand Prix.
After moving to Copenhagen, Denmark, Sissal continued her musical journey. She has performed at various festivals and contributed her voice to the Danish dub of a Disney film. Additionally, she had the opportunity to perform for the King of Denmark.
Sissal draws inspiration from Nordic electropop artists such as Dagny and Robyn. She has expressed her admiration for the Eurovision Song Contest, describing it as a world where she feels at home.
In 2025, Sissal participated in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with her song “Hallucination.” The competition took place on March 1, 2025, at the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning. Ultimately, Sissal emerged as the winner, earning the opportunity to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
Alongside her music career, Sissal is pursuing studies to become a teacher. She released her first EP, “Hear Me Now,” earlier in 2025.
