Sirusho

Sirusho, born Siranush Harutyunyan, is an Armenian singer, songwriter, and musician. She was born on January 7, 1987, in Yerevan, Armenia. Music runs in her family, as her mother, Syuzan Margaryan, is a famous singer, and her father, Hrachya Harutyunyan, is a theater director.

Sirusho began her music career at a young age. She recorded her first song, “Lusabats,” when she was only nine years old. This marked the start of a successful career in music. In 2000, she released her debut album, “Sirusho,” which gained her recognition in Armenia.

In 2005, Sirusho released her second album, “Sheram,” which showcased her talent for blending traditional Armenian music with modern sounds. This style became her signature and helped her gain fans internationally. Her third album, “Hima” (2007), included hit songs like “Hima” and “Heranum Em,” which became very popular in Armenia.

Sirusho gained worldwide fame in 2008 when she represented Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Qélé, Qélé.” She performed in Belgrade, Serbia, and finished in fourth place. The song became a hit across Europe.

In 2012, Sirusho released the single “PreGomesh,” which became one of her most successful songs. It combined Armenian folk music with modern beats and was praised for its unique sound. She followed this with other popular songs, such as “Mi Togh Indz Menak” (2016) and “Der Zor” (2016), a tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Sirusho is also a businesswoman. In 2013, she launched her jewelry line called “Pregomesh,” inspired by Armenian traditional designs. Her work has helped bring Armenian culture to a global audience.

Over the years, Sirusho has won many awards, including Best Female Artist of Armenia and Best Album of the Year. 

Sirusho is married to Levon Kocharyan, the son of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan. They have two children.
