Biography
Sigríður Beinteinsdóttir, also known as Sigga or Sigga Beins, is an Icelandic singer, born in Reykjavik. She started singing in the early 1980s in several bands. She has been voted ‘best female singer’ in Iceland several times in the late 1980s and the early 1990s. In 1990, she represented Iceland as the female half of the duo Stjórnin. The song “Eitt lag enn” ended up in 4th place. In 1991 she was one of the backings for Stefán & Eyfi. In 1992 she took part as the half of another duo: Heart 2 Heart. Originally, not she but her Heart 2 Heart duopartner Sigrún Eva Ármannsdóttir was chosen to represent Iceland with the song “Nætur”. However, the arranger of the song, Frank McNamara, thought she was not good enough and Sigga went to eurovision instead.
in 1996, Sigga released an album with the same name, and in 2003 she worked on a christmas album together with many other Icelandic stars. Sigga released a total of six albums, three of which were christmas albums.
