Biography
Sheeba was an all girl group, excisting of Frances Campbell, Marion Fossett and Maxi. The last one already had a career in Ireland as a singer and even represented Ireland in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Do I dream”. The girls teamed up in 1977 and took part in the 1978 Irish National Song Contest, the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “It’s amazing what love can do”. In 1980 they released a single, “Woman without love”. They represented Ireland in the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest and reached 5th place with “Horoscopes”. Although the follow up singles were no great successes, the contest lead to tours in Europe and Japan. One year later they took part in the Irish National Song Contest again, this time with a song in Irish: “Go Raibh Maith Agat”. On the British ITV-series “Name that tune”, they had the vocal duties together with Maggie Moone. In 1983, they were involved in a car accident. Because of their injuries, a long recovery was needed. That took the record company too long, so they ended the contract. In 1984 the girls took part in the Irish National Song Contest again, but in 1985 they decided to split up. Nowadays, Maxi is a successful broadcaster on Irish television, Marion Fossett works in the family circus Fossetts and Frances Campbell works as a broadcaster in Northern Ireland.
