Biography

Serge Lama is a French singer and songwriter, born in Bordeaux. Lama recorded his first singles in 1964. He had his first big hit in the French charts in 1968 with “D’aventure en aventure “, from his debut album with the same name. In 1971, he represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Un jardin sur la terre”. He also wrote lyrics for artists such as Marie-Paule Belle, Mireille Mathieu, Gilbert Bécaud and Melina Mercouri. His greatest success by far is the song “Je suis malade” (1974). The song reached the #1 spot in the French charts and was also a great success in the version of Dalida. Other great hits include “La Chanteuse à vingt ans” (1973), “Les ports de l’Atlantique”, the number one hit “Mourir en France” (1976), “Le dernier baiser” (1977), “Femme, femme, femm”e (1978) and “Napoléon” (1982). For many years he was primarily in known as an album artist and still achieves the French charts with his regular releases. In 2004 he released the album “Pluri elles”, a duet album. Among the duet partners were Lara Fabian, Isabelle Boulay, Anggun and Dalida.
