Biography
Samir Javadzadeh, born on April 16, 1980, in Baku, Azerbaijan, is a prominent Azerbaijani pop singer. He began his musical journey in 1992 at Music School No. 9, focusing on Azerbaijani folk music. In 1997, he pursued higher education in Foreign Relations at the Business University. After obtaining his degree, Samir dedicated five years to studying mugham, traditional Azerbaijani music. Following a year of military service, he joined the pop group Sheron, where he performed for three years before embarking on a solo career in 2006.
In 2008, Samir, alongside Elnur Hüseynov, represented Azerbaijan in its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest with the duet “Day After Day.” Their performance secured an impressive 8th place in the Grand Final. The song gained international popularity, and its music video topped charts in Azerbaijan for an extended period. Following this success, Samir and Elnur appeared in a commercial for the Neolit restaurant and performed a rendition of Modern Talking’s “Cheri Cheri Lady.” Despite their rising fame, Samir took a hiatus from the spotlight due to circulating rumors.
Returning to the music scene, Samir released solo tracks such as “Bəlkə (Mən Bəlkə Sən)” and “Mənim Üçün Yox.” His duet “Deyin Ona” with Röya became a long-standing hit in Azerbaijan. In 2010, he continued his musical endeavors with songs like “Səninlə Birlikdə (Quci, Quci),” “İnsafsızlar” composed by Ramal Israfilov, “Təkcə Sənə Bağlanıb Qəlbim (Son Görüş),” and “Bu da Son.” Plans for his first solo concert were announced in January 2011, with the event scheduled for later that year.
In November 2017, Samir released the single “Şəhər Darıxır Bizsiz.” After a brief hiatus, he unveiled the music video for “Sev Məni” on February 13, 2019, which quickly amassed over 2 million views and reached the number one spot on the MTV Azerbaijan charts. On February 19, 2022, he released “Son Görüş,” a composition by Ranar Musayev.
On April 26, 2024, Samir released a new single and video, “De Ona”.
