Biography
Robert Cogoi is a Belgian singer of Slovenian parents. Before he started a singing career, Robert studied electromechanical technic. In 1962 he won the ‘Prix international des variétés’ in Oostende with a song called “Si un jour”, which reached the #1 spot in the Wallon Belgian charts. He was also contracted by Radio Luxembourg. Also in 1963 he had several hits, among others “Je m’sens très seul”, a duet with Flemish singer Will Tura. In 1964 Robert Cogoi represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Près de ma rivière”. He kept on having hits but in the second half of the 1960s, that success started to fade. Cogoi released a total of 12 albums, the last of which was released in 2007. In 2004, he was made Officer of the Order of the Crown.
