Biography
Riki Sorsa was a Finnish singer, born and deceased in Helsinki. Sorsa began her career as a singing soloist with bands such as The Zoo and Jig-Saw. He began his solo career at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. In 1981 Sorsa represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Reggae OK”. The song became a hit in Finland and elsewhere in Europe. The first two solo albums were released respectively in 1981 and 1982. Kassu Halonen was the producer of both albums. Riki originally recorded in English. In 1983, the first Finnish album Riki Sorsa was released. Sorsa also recorded an English version of the album, which was released in the Nordic countries. Riki Sorsa released a total of 14 albums, the last one being “Kun tunnet rakkauden… Suomalainen laulukirja” in 2013. t the end of March 2006, Soros was diagnosed with pharyngeal and nasal cancers. ue to his illness, Sorsa almost stopped his music career. Sorsa worked as a PR man at the Cancer Foundation to tell about his illness. In October 2015, he learned that he was suffering from cancer again, this time in the lungs. Riki Sorsa died in his home in Helsinki at the age of 63 on May 10, 2016.
