Biography

Seppe Guido Yvonne Herreman, known professionally as Red Sebastian, was born on May 13, 1999, in Ostend, Belgium. From a young age, he exhibited a keen interest in music, beginning piano lessons at the age of nine. At twelve, he commenced vocal training at a local music academy in his hometown.

In 2013, at fourteen, Herreman participated in the second season of “Belgium’s Got Talent” on the Flemish television channel VTM. Performing Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man,” he advanced to the finals.

After completing his secondary education, Herreman enrolled in the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in 2017, focusing on vocal studies in light music and pop. During his time there, he received instruction from artists including Gustaph and Ibernice MacBean. In 2019, he adopted the stage name Red Sebastian, inspired by the red, singing crab from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” a character he admired during his childhood.

Red Sebastian’s musical style blends elements of pop, electronic, and soul music. His vocal approach is characterized by the use of falsetto, and his performances are noted for distinctive attire, often featuring the color red.

In 2021, he released his debut album, “You,” with “Embrace Me” as the lead single. The following year, he collaborated with Time To Talk and Lewka on the track “Keep Going Back to You.”

In 2024, Red Sebastian participated in the VTM television program “Sing Again,” reaching the superfinal with a performance of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On.”

In November 2024, he was announced as one of the eight finalists in “Eurosong 2025,” a competition organized by the Flemish broadcaster VRT to select Belgium’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Performing his original song “Strobe Lights,” he secured first place in both jury and public voting during the final on February 1, 2025, earning the opportunity to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland.

Throughout his career, Red Sebastian has maintained a focus on creating music that reflects his artistic vision, combining catchy melodies with electronic and soulful elements. His work is characterized by a commitment to personal expression and a distinctive musical style.
