Biography
Miguel Rafael Martos Sánchez, better known as Raphael (born in Linares, Jaén in 1943), is a Spanish singer and actor. He is recognized for being one of the precursors of the romantic ballad in Spain and in Spanish-speaking countries.
His takeoff as a musical star took place in the early 1960s.
In 1966 and 1967 he represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest with the songs “Yo soy aquel” and “Hablemos del amor”, reaching respectively the 7th and 6th positions. In 1969, he performed in the big hall of Madison Square Garden in New York, where he sang in front of 48,000 people. In 1982 he received a uranium record for the sales of more than 50 million records during his musical career.
Currently, he is considered one of the most active singers of the so-called “romantic ballad divos”, touring all over America and Europe, transmitting for 60 years of artistic career, a repertoire full of novelty, so which his older songs are being recorded again, being remastered with modern sounds closer to today’s youth.
