Biography

Poogy, also known as Kaveret, was an Israeli band. The members already met during their military service and teamed up as a band with a flexible line up. They continued working like that also after their military service.
They wanted to make a rock opera, but producer Avraham Deshe convinced the guys to do a revue show instead. It was a huge success. Their first album “Sipurei Poogy” could be released. The band was voted ‘Band of the year’ by the army radio station and by Israeli TV (IBA).
In 1974, they represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Natati la khaiai”. In august of the same year, their second album “Poogy Bepita” was released.
In 1975, the band started working on new songs and a new show. Show and album “Tzafuf BaOzen” was not their biggest success. Although the band wanted to tour through the USA in 1976, it was impossible for them to get a new record deal. That was the reason the band split up in that year.
