Biography
Piera Martell is a Swiss singer, born in jona in the canton of St. Gallen. She released her first single in 1966 already, “Sur le fil”. However, after her debut it remained silent for a few years. She came back in 1970, now singing German songs. In 1973, she won the Swiss Schlager Festival with the song “Der Himmel über mir”. One year later, she represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Mein Ruf nach dir”. In 1976, she did an attempt to represent Germany in the contest with the song “Ein neuer Tag”.
In 1977 she took part in the World Popular Song Contest in Tokyo and did a new attempt to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978. She released a lot of singles, unfortunately none of them reached the charts. In 1981, she became a member of the group Swiss Union, who also participated in the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. After this, she ended her career.
