Biography
Patricia Bredin, born on March 17, 1935, in Hull, England, was a versatile British actress and singer who held the distinction of being the United Kingdom’s first ever representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. With a career spanning over six decades, Bredin has made her mark in the worlds of music, film, and stage.
Though Bredin’s time in the spotlight began with her participation in the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest, where she performed “All,” it was just the start of a long and fruitful journey in the entertainment industry. This was for a long time the shortest performance ( 1:52) in the history of the contest. However, this record was beaten in 2015 when Finland selected Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät to represent them in the 2015 edition of the contest. Their entry “Aina mun pitää” was only 1:27 long.
In addition to her singing career, Patricia Bredin made her presence felt in the acting world. She starred in several films and television shows, including the 1958 film “A Tale of Two Cities,” where she portrayed Lucie Manette.
Patricia Bredin passed away on 13 August 2023.
