Biography
Parg, born Pargev Vardanyan in Hayravank, Armenia, is an Armenian singer-songwriter known for his unique blend of indie-folk, R&B, pop, and rock music. His musical journey began in his hometown, where he sang in the local church choir during his early years. Later, his family relocated to Volgograd, Russia, seeking better educational opportunities. There, Parg pursued his passion for the arts, graduating from the Volgograd State Institute of Theater and Cinema with a degree in Theater Arts and Acting. During his time in Volgograd, he co-founded the band The Edge Chronicles, which toured across Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia between 2017 and 2019.
In 2022, Parg returned to Armenia. Embracing his cultural roots, he began integrating traditional Armenian elements into his music, creating a distinctive sound that resonates with both local and international audiences. His debut single, “Ginin U Grely” (“Wine & Writing”), released in 2021, marked the beginning of this new chapter. Parg’s subsequent releases, including “Araj” (“Forward”) and “Kanchum Em” (“I’m Calling”), have been lauded for their innovative fusion of Armenian cultural motifs with contemporary music styles.
Parg performed at various notable events, such as opening for French singer Zaz at the HAYA Festival in Yerevan in 2022. His music videos have also garnered critical acclaim, with “Araj” receiving a nomination for Best Music Video at the Armenian Music Video Awards in 2024.
In February 2025, Parg won the national selection competition for the Eurovision Song Contest, Depi Evratesil. He is set to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel with his song “Survivor”.
