Biography
Olsen Brothersis a Danish rock/pop music duo, formed by Jørgen (15 march 1950) and Niels “Noller” Olsen (13 april 1954). They formed their first band The Kids in 1965. That was the year both children opened for The Kinks at one of their concerts. Both Jørgen and Niels Olsen performed in the musical Hair in the Cirkusbygningen in Copenhagen March 1971, and went on tour afterwards through Denmark, Norway and Sweden. They released their first album ” Olsen” in 1972. They have had a lot of hits like “Angelina” (1972), “Julie” (1977), ” abd ” For what we are” (1978), 1978 was also the first year when they participated in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “San Francisco”, followed by “Dans Dans Dans” (1979), “Laila” (1980) and “Fællesang i Parken” (1986). After the release of their album “Rockstalgi” in 1987, it became more quiet around the duo, while Jørgen performed in Melodi Grand Prix as a solo singer twice.
They made a comeback in 2000 and finally won Melodi Grand Prix with the song “Smuk som et stjerneskud”, in English called “Fly on the wings of love”. They won the Eurovision Song Contest and had an international hit with the song.
The duo released a total of 15 albums. In 2019, they ended their career due to Niels’ health situation.
