Biography

The members of OG3NE are sisters. They were all born in the Dutch city of Dordrecht: Lisa on June 21, 1994 and the twins Amy and Shelley on October 18, 1995. They grew up in Fijnaart.

Participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest marked the start of their musical career in 2007, under the name of Lisa, Amy & Shelley. Their parents initially helped them write songs (their father) and develop choreographies (their mother).

With their self-written song “Adem in, adem uit”, Lisa, Amy and Shelley won the Dutch national final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. During the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Rotterdam they reached an 11th place.

After performing at the Junior Song Contest, they got a record deal with EMI Music, followed by a deal with Cloud9. Later they started doing their work in-house. Lisa, Amy and Shelley released several songs such as “100%”, “Fout ventje”,
“Boemerdeboem” and “Diep in de nacht”. In 2009 they sang the title song of the movie Kikkerdril.

In 2014, the sisters participated in The Voice of Holland as the first threesome ever in this program. They debuted here under the new band name OG3NE. The name OG3NE stands for the following:  “O’ = their mother’s blood type, G3ne = the genes that link them together. The sisters won the talent show. They released their debut single “Magic”. It was a number 3 in the Dutch charts and they got a gold record for it.

At Symphonica in Rosso 2015/2016 they performed twelve times in the Ziggo Dome. A year later, the sisters performed six times in Rotterdam Ahoy during Toppers in concert. In 2016 they participated in the television program Beste Zangers.  Their version of the Emeli Sandé song “Clown” earned them a gold record in March 2017. “We got this”, their first studio album recorded under the name OG3NE, was released in the fall of 2016. It immediately debuted at number 1 on the Dutch Album Top 100 and was awarded a gold record. OG3NE has been committed since the end of 2015 as an ambassador for the deadly muscle and nerve disease ALS.

On October 29, 2016, it was announced that OG3NE would represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Ukraine. On March 3, 2017 it was announced that they would travel to Kyiv with the song “Lights and shadows”, written by their father Rick Vol and Shelley’s boyfriend Rory de Kievit. The song is a musical tribute to their seriously ill mother, who suffered from a rare form of bone cancer. Later that year she passed away as a result of this illness. The trio reached the final and finished in 11th place.

In October 2019, their second album “Straight to you” appeared. At the same time, the sisters won the tv-show Dance Dance Dance. In the same year and in 2020, they had a theatre tour throughout The Netherlands called “Sweet Harmony Tour”.

During the first COVID19 lockdown they caught a lot of attention with the song “Kinda wanna”, with a video that was recorded by all the girls seperated via Zoom. When they did the same with “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Queen shared the song on their Instagram. A lot of home isolation versions of songs followed. They also gave several Home Concerts.

On October 30 2020, the sisters released a new single, in Dutch, called “Lieve zus”, followed by “Dat ben jij” in March 2021. Meanwhile, they kept on giving online concerts. In October 2021 they finished their “Sweet Harmony” tour. They released a christmas song, “Christmas on my doorstep”, and started a theatre tour with Dutch songs, “Samen uit, samen thuis”. On March 18, 2022, they released their song “Veel te snel”.
