Biography
Odd Børre is a Norwegian singer. He was born in Harstad. His first single was released in 1962. He was, during that time, also a member of the Kjell Karlsen Orchestra. In 1964, he also participated for the first time in the Melodi Grand Prix, the Norwegian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, but reached with “La meg værre ung”. In 1968 he took part in the Melodi Grand Prix again, this time with the titles “Jeg har aldri vært så glad i no’en som deg” and “Stress”. The first of these two songs won, but Kirsti Sparboe was chosen to represent Norway with it. However, composer Kari Neergaard withdrew the winning entry, as it had too much in common with Cliff Richard’s “Summer Holiday”. It was Odd Børre who represented Norway in the end, with the song “Stress”. The same year, Børre released an album and scored two hits: “Lapplandsflicka” and “Om du visste”. Also at the 1969 Melodi Grand Prix, present, this time with the song “Lena”. This song also became a hit for the singer. With the song “Ironside” he finished second again in 1971, while he finished last with “Make love, not war” in 1977. That song was the last one Odd recorded.
Odd Børre passed away in January 2023.
