Biography

Nora Brockstedt was a Norwegian singer. She debuted under her own name on cabaret- and revuetheater Chat Noir on July 20, 1944 as the half of the Harmony Duo. Their debut single came a year later: “Kanskje engang tilbake den kommer”/”Enn en gang skal fuglene synge”. When vocal group The Monn Keys debuted in 1951, Nora was also one of them. In 1953, Nora Brockstedt released a solo single, “Du, du, du”, followed by several other singles. She also performed in the musical “Hu Dagmar”. In 1959, she released her first album in Sweden.
1960 was a special year for her with a number one hit “Er du glad i meg ennå, Karl Johan?” and she was the first ever representative of Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Voi-voi”. She also represented Norway in 1961 with “Sommer i Palma”. She returned to the national final Melodi Grand Prix another four times, the last time in 1977.
It was only in 1970 that she released her first entire album in Norway, “Noe nytt”.  She played in the tv series “Tøydokke-Anna” and in NRK’s ​​popular advent calendar from 1979.
Nora Brockstedt kept on performing and releasing music until the mid 2000s; her last album was “Nora – for swingende!” in 2008.
She married Mr. Brockstedt after the Second World War. Her second marriage was to lyricist Arne Riis, who died in 2009. Brockstedt died after a short illness on November 5, 2015.
