Biography

Miroslav Dimov Kostadinov, known as Miro, is a popular Bulgarian pop singer, composer, lyricist, and producer.

Miroslav Kostadinov was born on March 10, 1976, in Tolbuhin (now Dobrich). Due to an illness, he was raised by his grandmother Maria, during which time he developed a love for music by listening to the radio.

At six years old, Miro started learning piano based on his teachers’ advice. At eight, he performed in the musical Rositsa i valka. He completed his primary education at and decided to study at the Humanities High School at 14.

Despite being born into an atheist family, at 14, Miro joined the Nondenominational Church Rema Dobrich, becoming a vocalist and keyboardist in one of Bulgaria’s first praise and worship bands. In 1991, he was discovered by Georgi Sarandev, beginning his journey through various music festivals.

In 1995, Miro won the Otkritie festival. He also entered the top 3 of the Zlatniya Orfey and represented Bulgaria at the Pamukkale festival in Turkey. He was a guest at The Voice of Asia in Kazakhstan alongside Corona and Belinda Carlisle. In 1997, while serving in the Bulgarian army, he won the “Debut” award at the First Bulgarian Music Awards. During this time, he worked with Mitko Shterev and Krasimir Gyulmezov but didn’t achieve much success. After leaving the army, Miro moved to Sofia and began writing music for other artists.

By 18, Miro had won all prestigious national music festivals and several international ones. In 1999, he and Galina Kurdova formed the duo Karizma. Within a year, Karizma became very popular in Bulgaria, winning over 50 awards. They parted ways after eight years, leaving behind one album, “Eklisiast,” and several number 1 singles. The duo took part in the Bulgarian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, becoming 2nd with the song “Fool for you”.

In 2008, Miro started his solo career with the album “oMIROtvoren,” which became one of the best-selling albums in Bulgarian music history. His hit single “Gubya kontrol, kogato” was named the favorite song of the past 15 years by Darik Radio. Miro had six songs in the top 20 of all time on BG Radio.

From 2009 to 2012, Miro continued to win awards for the best artist in Bulgaria. He was chosen to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision in 2010 with his song “Angel Si Ti” Although it did not reach number 1 in Bulgaria, his performance in Oslo was highly anticipated.

In 2011, Miro produced the young singer Divna, whose debut “I ti ne mozesh da me spresh” reached number 1 on the charts. Miro was a vocal coach on the TV show The Voice of Bulgaria in 2011, 2013, and 2014, with a contestant from his team winning in 2013. In the spring of 2014, Miro hosted the TV show Really Love.

In the summer of 2014, Miro and Dim4ou released the song “Skochi nad men”. In 2016, he recorded “Tiho” with Irina Florin.

In 2012, Miro released “Varha na planinata.” In 2013, he became the ambassador of Giorgio Armani for Bulgaria and released the song “Suvenir.” Throughout his career, Miro participated in various social and charity campaigns.

In 2014, Miro created the song “Detsa” and hosted the show Naistina lyubov. In 2015, he released “Kato svatbena halka,” chosen by his fans. In 2016, he recorded “Ima smisal” for the Antarctica project. He also released “Dochupi sartseto mi” and an acoustic version of it. In 2017, Miro released “Reverse” and “Galabo,” inspired by Vida Pironkova’s poem.

In 2018, Miro made his directorial debut with “Losho skroen” and won three awards at the BG Radio Annual Music Awards for 2017. On April 17, 2024, Miro held his first concert at Arena Sofia.

In 2017, Miro participated in the show Kato Dve Kapki Voda (Like Two Drops of Water,) transforming into 13 different characters, including Elton John, Britney Spears, and Ricky Martin. He won one night as Rositsa Kirilova with her song “Barefoot on the Asphalt.”

In 2021, Miro participated in the third season of The Masked Singer as the Rhinoceros, finishing in third place.

In 2023, Miro returned to “The Voice of Bulgaria” for its tenth anniversary season.
