Biography

MFÖ is a Turkish band, playing music with a touch of humour on one side, but on the other hand a touch of spiritualism. Mazhar Alanson and Fuat Güner first met in 1965, when they started playing together in a band called Kaygısızlar. In 1971, the band split up and Mazhar and Fuat went on as a duo. As this was not a huge succes, they formed a new band, İpucu Beşlisi. One of it’s members, Özkan Uğur, joined Mazhar and Fuat and they went on as a trio, Mazhar-Fuat-Özkan, or shortly MFÖ. Their first studio album came out in 1984. One year later, they represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Didai didai dai (aşık oldum)”. In 1988, we could see them in Eurovision for a second time, now with the song “Sufi”. The band released a total of eleven albums. They worked together with artists such as Sertab Erener, Sezen Aksu and many others. MFÖ has been involved in many aid campaigns. They have participated in charity events especially on street animals, education, spinal cord paralysis.
