Biography
Maxi is an Irish singer and tv and radio host. She rose to fame when she was chosen for an all girl group called Maxi, Dick and Twink. She was only 14 years old when she joined the group. In 1970, they participated in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Not very long after this, Twink left the group, which meant the end of Maxi, Dick and Twink. In 1973, Maxi represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Do I dream?”. At the contest in Luxemburg, there was a conflict between Maxi and the delegation about the arrangement of the song. Maxi refused to perform, and RTÉ brought in Tina Reynolds to replace her. That was enough pressure to get Maxi to sing the song in the end and she became 7th. In 1977, Maxi joined a new group, Sheeba. They represented Ireland in the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest and took part several times in the national selection. The group split up in 1985. Maxi went on to present shows on radio like “Late date”, “Rapid roulette” and “The risin’ time”. She resigned in 2015.
