Biography

When Mary Roos was 9 years old, she made her debut record “Ja die Dicken sind ja so gemütlich” under the name of Kleine Rosemarie. She also appeared in a film. After that first record, many followed. In 1965 she had her first chart success and in 1970 was her real breakthrough with the song “Arizona man”. She also took part in the 1970 national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Soon after this, she got her own television show and attempted to get a career in France. In 1972, she was chosen to represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Nur die Liebe lässt uns leben”, reaching the 3rd place. In 1975 and 1982, she participated in the national finals again, but did not win. In 1984, she won again and represented Germany with “Aufrecht geh’n”. She kept on releasing albums on a regular basis. She did not have big hits anymore. However, she kept on giving live concerts and was said to be one of the most booked schlager singers. In october 2019, she decided to resign, and in january 2020 she will give her last concert.
