Biography
Marie Ruggeri, also known as Mary Christy, is an Italian actress and singer born oin Luxembourg. At the age of 7, Marie Ruggeri became a child star in Germany and Luxembourg where she recorded records under the pseudonyms of Marie Tina or Marie Cristina.
In the early 1970s, she moved to France, sang under the name of Mary Cristy and was part of the creation of the musical comedy “The French Revolution” by Claude-Michel Schönberg at the Palais des Sports in Paris.
In 1976, she represented Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest where she finished 3rd with the song “Toi, la musique et moi”. In parallel with her solo career, she accompanied many artists in studio and on stage such as Claude François, Alain Souchon and Alain Barrière. She also sang in many commercials.
In the mid-1980s, she doubled Audrey in the songs of the film “La petite boutique des horreurs” and participated in many dubbing for Jean Cussac, Guy Pedersen and Georges Costa.
It is also the time when she puts aside the variété to perform the contemporary theater with her real name. A journey that led her to create the Compagnie Marie Ruggeri in 2004 and to write and perform several plays including “Vagabonde”, “Femmes en danger” and “Louise Michel, écrits et cris”.
