Biography
Maro is a Portuguese singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. She was born in Lissabon. Already as a child, she began to learn music in a music school. She finished a course for piano.
At 19, she decided to devote herself to music full-time and applied to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she entered on a scholarship. After completing the course in Professional Music in 2017, she moved to Los Angeles, where she started her musical career. In 2018, she released no less than five albums and an EP, drawing the attention of several renowned musicians, such as the Englishman Jacob Collier. He ended up inviting Maro to participate in his album “Djesse, vol. 2”. The partnership didn’t stop there and the Portuguese artist ended up being invited to be an integral part of Jacob’s band, on the Djesse World Tour in 2019. Around the same time, Maro started being managed by Quincy Jones Productions, with whom she works to this day.
In 2022, Maro participated in Festival da Canção, the Portuguese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She won the contest. That’s why she went on to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, where she reached a 9th place.
