Biography
Born in Rotterdam, Annemieke Verdoorn is a famous Dutch actress. As a singer, she was discovered by Claude Carrère who offered her a contract. She performed under the name of Margo, in fact her middle name. The only highlight of her singing career was participating in the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest. She became known to the Dutch audience through her role in “Medisch Centrum West”, a hospital series broadcast from 1988 to with 1994. Another major role she played is in the television series “Onderweg naar Morgen”.
She has also appeared on stage in “Gwendoline” and has played in the films “Les branchés à Saint-Tropez” (1983) and “De Ratelrat” (1987). In 2008 it was announced that Verdoorn was going to quit her role in “Onderweg naar morgen”. Verdoorn lived in Sydney, Australia for some timewith her husband and son . In 2016 she moved back to the Netherlands.
In 1985, Ralph Siegel got the idea of three duo’s from respectively France, Germany and the United Kingdom, to represent Luxembourg. However, the French duo contained a Dutch and a Belgian singer. The song “Children, Kinder, enfants” contained three different languages.
