Biography

Luv Bug is a group from Newry, Northern Ireland. They started as a teenage band in 1977. It took five years before they started their professional career. Sister and brothers June, Max and Hugh Cunningham formed the band, joined by Majella Grant and Ricky Meyler. They released their first single “Red light spells danger” in 1984. It was a Billy Ocean cover, but after this, they started releasing their own songs. They had various hits in the Irish charts. In 1986, they were chosen to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. They became fourth, and one year later they released their debut album. In the United Kingdom, they released two singles under the name Heart of Ice. They toured throughout Europe and worked in Los Angeles. In 1992, they took part in the Irish National Song Contest for a second time. Luv Bug is currently still active, but exclusively as a live band.
