Biography
Katarsis is a Lithuanian post-punk band formed in 2020 in Vilnius. The band comprises vocalist and guitarist Lukas Radzevičius, lead guitarist Alanas Brasas, bassist Emilija Kandratavičiūtė, and drummer Jokūbas Andriulis. Their music blends alternative rock, post-punk, and art rock, characterized by dark, melancholic melodies and introspective lyrics.
In May 2020, Katarsis released their debut single and music video, “Vasarą galvoj minoras,” which quickly garnered widespread attention. The track reached the ninth position on the Lithuanian singles chart in February 2022. Following this success, the band released several other singles, including “Būsi” and “DES.” Their most recent single, “Tavo akys,” was released on January 31, 2025, and climbed to the sixth position on the Lithuanian charts.
In February 2025, Katarsis won the national selection competition, Eurovizija.LT, earning the opportunity to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with their song “Tavo akys.” This achievement marks a significant milestone in their career, expanding their international recognition.
Katarsis’s music is noted for its fusion of nostalgic indie-pop, post-punk, and post-rock elements, creating hypnotic melodies and a cathartic atmosphere. Their performances are renowned for their intense energy and ability to take the audience on an emotional journey.
