Biography
Karina is a Spanish singer, born in Jaén. In 1961 he was chosen to star in an advertising spot. Thanks to this announcement he was able to record his first song, “Bikini Amarillo”. One of his first appearances was in the program “Escala en Hi-Fi”. This show lasted for six seasons, reaching an Award as the best television musical program in 1962. In 1963 she recorded her first two EPs. Her label Hispavox took advantage of the launch of these EPs in Portugal and France. In 1965 she participated in the festival of Mallorca and recorded a Spanish version of “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”. Two years later, Karina published her first album in the USA. In 1969, she had her first hit in the Spanish charts with her version of “Ob la di, ob la da”.
In 1971, she was chosen to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “En un mundo nuevo”, which became 3rd,
After the Eurovision Song Contest, Karina’s career lasted until 1978, when Hispavox did not renew her contract. She returned to the stage in the mid-1990s, when she performed in a theatre show called “Entrañables 60”.
