Biography
Kalomira, born Maria Kalomira Carol Sarantis on January 31, 1985, in West Hempstead, New York, is a Greek-American singer and television personality. She gained prominence in Greece after winning the talent show “Fame Story 2” in 2004. Her victory led to a recording contract with Heaven Music and the release of her debut album, “Kalomira,” which achieved gold status in Greece and Cyprus.
In 2008, Kalomira represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Secret Combination,” securing third place in the final. This achievement marked one of Greece’s highest placements in the competition.
Following her Eurovision success, Kalomira continued her music career with the release of her album “Secret Combination: The Album” in 2008. She also ventured into television, hosting shows such as “Big in Japan” and co-hosting “Pio Poli Tin Kiriaki.”
In her personal life, Kalomira married George Bousalis in 2010. The couple has three children: twin boys born in 2012 and a daughter born in 2016.
After a brief hiatus, Kalomira returned to the music scene in 2015 with the single “This Is Summer.” She continued to release music, including the 2016 Christmas single “Ta Christougenna Afta” and the 2017 track “Shoot ‘Em Down.”
In 2022, Kalomira made a notable return to Greek television by participating in the show “Just the Two of Us,” where she served as a coach. She also released the single “Stohos” and performed at various events, including the Mad Video Music Awards. In September 2023, it was officially announced that she would co-host the Greek edition of “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” alongside George Lianos.
Throughout her career, Kalomira has been recognized with several awards, including “Best New Artist” in 2005 and “Best Performing Artist” in 2009. Her dynamic presence in both the music and television industries has solidified her status as a beloved figure in Greek entertainment.
