Biography
Kaija Kärkinenis a Finnish singer, lyricist and actress. She has studied education at the University of Lapland and acting at the Theater Academy. Kärkinen began her career as a soloist with the Lato band in Rovaniemi. In 1990 she met her husband-to-be Ile Kallio, and recorded an album together with him. She represented Finland in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Hullu yö”. Kaija and Ile’s first success together came with a hit single in 1995. Their albums, a total of twelve, have been great successes ever since. They have been a couple in civilian life ever since and have two sons, Alex and Elias. Kärkinen has been the chairman of the Elvis Association of Composers and Lyricists since March 2012.
