Biography

Born in Languedoc-Roussillon as Richard-Jacques Bonay, Prévost was adopted shortly after his birth by a family from northern France. Renamed Jean-Luc Potaux, he grew up in Trith-Saint-Léger, near the Belgian border.
He moved to Paris in 1970 and in 1972 signed a contract with CBS Records, releasing a series of singles and tours in the coming years with artists such as Serge Gainsbourg, Mike Brant, Michele Torr and Serge Lama.
In 1977, Prévost participated in the French national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, performing the song “Pour oublier Barbara”. The following year, he participated again. He won the national final and represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Il y aura toujours des violons”. Prévost remained active, having played at Olympia (Paris), Alhambra (Paris) and toured for many years throughout Africa.
