Biography

Jean Philippe is a French singer and actor. He had his first success in the early 1950s, but had to quit due to health problems. He was only able to return in 1957, performing for radiostation Europe 1. He represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest 1959. He became 3rd in the contest. This was the only year that not only the winner, but the entire top-3, sang their song again. “Oui, oui, oui, oui” became a success in the version of Sacha Distel. Philippe appeared in the 1960 film “Jazz Boat”,  in which he sang “Oui, oui, oui, oui”. He returned to the contest in 1962 representing Switzerland. He was the first artist to compete for two countries at Eurovision.
