Biography

Jacques Pills is a French singer. He debuted at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. He and his sidekick Georges Tabet developed the duo Pills and Tabet, with which they toured successfully all over Europe.
In the 1940s, regaining independence, he became a charming singer with songs like “Seul dans la nuit”. Pills chooses Gilbert Bécaud to accompany him for a tour in America. They wrote together, “Je t’ai dans la peau” for Edith Piaf. In 1959, he represented Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Mon ami Pierrot”. However, the year after his daughter Jacqueline Boyer represented France… and won! After Eurovision, Jacques Pills retired.

In 1939, he married the singer Lucienne Boyer. Their daughter Jacqueline Boyer was born in 1941. Pills married Piaf in 1952, Marlene Dietrich being one of their witnesses. They divorce five years later, in 1957.
After his career, he held a farm in Brittany-de-Marsan. He later returned to France, where he died on 12 september 1970.
