Biography
Imaani, or Imaani Saleem, is a British singer. She was unknown to the audience until she won the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 and became the runner up in the contest. Her Eurovision song “Where are you?” became an international chart success. Unfortunately, her record company EMI decided to cancel the release of her follow-up record. In 2000, she supplied the lead vocals on Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy’s UK garage cover of Adina Howard’s “Freak Like Me”. She went on to record with the jazz-funk band Incognito, providing vocals for more than 10 of their records. Since 2005, she is part of The Allstars Collective. In 2014, Imaani released her debut album as a solo singer.
