Biography
Gianni Mascolo, born in Milan, was an Italian singer. As a 10yo child, he already sang in the choir of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, staying there for five years, until his voice changed. He did a study at the conservatory of Milan. He made his debut as a singer in 1964, when he was offered a contract at Ariston Records. In 1964 and 1965, he was a member of the Venetian group I Lagunari. In 1965, he took par in the Festival di Sanremo with his song “Di fronte all’amore”. He did, however, not reach the final.
He also participated in Cantagiro in 1967 and in 1967 International Light Music Festival, the latter with the song “Noi”.
In 1968, Mascolo represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Guardando il sole”.
Gianni Mascolo continued to perform until 1970, when he left showbussines. Mascolo passed away in december 2016.
